The beautiful snow had wreaked havoc earlier on Friday, though, closing schools and causing enough accidents to close the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield for a time.
In fact, statewide, the Connecticut State Police reported a total of 403 crashes as of 5 p.m.
The storm, which began overnight, was stronger than expected by Friday morning. The forecast was revised upward, for up to 4 to 6 inches of snow. All in all, here is a collection of official snowfall totals from the National Weather Service:
- Shelton: 9 inches, 1 p.m.
- Easton: 9 inches, 12:40 p.m.
- Bridgeport: 8 inches 4 p.m.
- Fairfield: 7.7 inches, 1:30 p.m.
- Norwalk: 7.2 inches, 12:45 p.m.
- Weston: 7 inches, 10:45 a.m.
- New Canaan: 6.6 inches, noon
- Darien: 5.5 inches, 11 a.m.
- New Fairfield: 5 inches, 1 p.m.
- Danbury: 4.6 inches, 4:15 p.m.
- Sandy Hook: 4 inches, 12:15 p.m.
Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 36 degrees with wind chills of 15 to 25. Temperatures will drop to about 25 overnight.
Super Bowl Sunday will be sunny and in the 40s.
The next chance of snow? That comes Monday, with a 60 percent chance of snow by early afternoon.
