NORWALK, Conn. – Grab your paddles, Norwalk, and head over to REI. On Wednesday, July 18, kayaker, local nature enthusiast and author David Park will be in the store to discuss kayak safety, local waterways and wildlife, and his book, "Kayaking In and Around the Norwalk Islands."

Park has been an East Norwalk resident for the past 27 years and is a member of the Norwalk River Watershed Association, which works to improve the quality of water in Long Island Sound, particularly around the Norwalk Islands.

An avid canoeist since his childhood, Park began exploring local waters by kayak 15 years ago. His book was first printed in 2009 and will be available for purchase and signing at the event for $10.

The discussion begins at 7 p.m., and will be held at REI’s Norwalk store, located at 189 Connecticut Ave.

Diane C2:

Thinking about kayaking in Long Island Sound got me to thinking about the beach which got me to thinking about talking a walk down tonight which got me to thinking about the sorry state of Calf Pasture Beach Road safety which got me to thinking that perhaps David Park might not be so disagreeable when it comes to pedestrian lanes there if every time he went kayaking some speeding jet boats were whizzing past his a** at 50mph! Bet you then he'd actually be a proponent of "kayaker lanes" in Long Island Sound.......just sayin'

Flo:

LOL! I was thinking the exact same thing... but then he'd have a gripe against a kayaker, get sued by them and then turn on the paddling community too. He's a fraud.
