WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport residents will once again be able to bring their dogs out to Compo Beach beginning Oct. 1, Parks and Recreation Director Stuart McCarthy announced.
Dogs will be allowed at the beach through March 31. However, the following regulations must be met:
- Dogs are prohibited from the pavilion, playground and boardwalk
- Dogs must be leashed in all areas, except in the designated “off-leash” area south of the pavilion, including South Beach. Off-leash regulations are posted at the entrance to the “off-leash” area
- Dog owners are required by law to pick up their dog’s fesces.
Those who violate these regulations are subject to a $77 fine, McCarthy said.
