WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport was tabbed as the seventh best town to live in by Connecticut Magazine's annual "Rating the Towns" feature.
The rankings look a bit different this year, as the publication decided to split the towns up according to median home sale price instead of population. Westport was part of a 37-town group that boasts a median home sale price of more than $300,000.
In addition to median home sale price, Connecticut Magazine weighed crime rates, graduation rates, the equalized mill rate, PIC rating, the number of restaurants that made the publications "Best Restaurants" list and voter turnout when determining the ranking.
Westport's No. 7 placement came from top-five rankings in the culture and leisure, education and economy categories. Westport fell behind in crime rate, where it ranked 29th out of 37 towns.
Fairfield County dominated the list with Ridgefield, Darien, New Canaan, Wilton, Greenwich and Weston making up the Top six.
Easton was ranked 12th, Fairfield 17th and Redding was tied for 21st.
Stamford was ranked the top city in the state, followed by Norwalk and Danbury.
