WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Young Jewish Professionals in Westport is set to host a "Black and White" cocktail and networking Purim Party in Norwalk this weekend.
The party is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15 at Episode Bar and Lounge at 112 Washington St. in Norwalk. The party will feature a fresh sushi bar, appetizers, an all cash bar, a megillah reading, entertainment and door prizes and attendees are encouraged to come in costume.
"The Purim holiday is a part of biblical history that dates back over 2,500 years ago and commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman's plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Megillah-Book of Esther," a press release said. "It is celebrated by reading of the Megillah (Nook of Esther), which recounts the story of the Purim miracle, giving gifts of money to the poor, sending gifts of food to friends, and participating in a Purim feast."
Purim falls on March 15 and 16, which corresponds to the Hebrew date of Adar 14.
The cost of admission is $20 at the door and $15 advance by Tuesday, March 11. For more information call (203) 635-4118 or visit the Young Jewish Professionals website or email Youngjewishp@gmail.com.
