Friday, Aug. 31
Harbor at the Westport Country Playhouse: 8 p.m. Dont miss the world premiere of Harbor, a comedy about a dysfunctional, loving family written by Tony Award-nominated writer Chad Beguelin and directed by Mark Lamos. The cast includes Tony Award nominee Bobby Steggert (Broadways Ragtime), Emmy Award nominee Paul Anthony Stewart (Guiding Light), Kate Nowlin and Alexis Molnar. Tickets are $25 to $65. Blues, Views & BBQ Fest: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Live music, barbecue and all the food you can eat marks the fifth-annual Blues, View & BBQ Festival downtown. The festival continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday highlights include the food court, performances by eight bands at the Levitt Pavilion, the Cookin for a Cause amateur barbecue competition, a kids activity area and CT Bites cooking demonstrations. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids/students/seniors. Kids under 5 are free. Early-bird tickets are half-price. Levitt Pavilion/Westport Library parking lot, 20 Jesup Road.
Peter Morse & Friends Concert: 1 to 5 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of blues rhythms at the Westport Library with Peter Morse & Friends, also known as the Hardy-Morse Clan Band, which plays a combination of pop, folk, and blues songs. The band consists of Peter Morse (vocals and some guitar), Morgan Morse (vocals and all instruments), and Ellen Hardy (vocals, guitar, and violin). Free. Sunday, Sept. 2
Blues, Views & BBQ Fest: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The food and fun continue downtown. Day two includes the food court, the Kids Q barbecue competition, rib- and pie-eating contests, seven concerts at the Levitt Pavilion, a performance by the School of Rock and the kids activity area.
