WESTON, Conn. A quilt exhibit, a Weston Kiwanis Club presentation, comedian Mario Cantone and the B-52s are some of the events happening in and around Weston this weekend.
11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The quilt exhibit, "Fabrics and Fabrications," begins at the Southport Congregational Church. Quilts from around the country, new and old, will be on display. There also will be workshops for parents and kids alike that include quilts made from recycled objects. Tickets are available in advance and at the door. 8 p.m.: Get ready to laugh as comedian Mario Cantone takes the stage at the Rigefield Playhouse . Cantone, who had a recurring role on HBOs Sex in the City, is known for his impersonations and musical parodies. Tickets are $55 and $65.
8:30 a.m .: Westons school superintendent Colleen Palmer will speak about initiatives to prepare young people for global citizenship at a presentation to The Weston Kiwanis Club the Norfield Parish Hall , 64 Norfield Road.
10 a.m.: Proving that you dont have to wait for the Spring harvest to enjoy fresh vegetables, meats and dairy, the Westons Winter Farmers' Market at the Norfield Grange brings a variety of goods to Weston, all made by Connecticut farmers and artisans. This is an indoor farmers' market event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday.
12:30 p.m.: The Easton Public Library will have a special artist reception in honor of artist John Kochiss. His exhibit Wooden Boats and Canvas Sails is on display at the library.
3-5 p.m.: Food writer Eugenia Bone will discuss her new book "Mycophilia: Revelations from the Weird World of Mushrooms" at The Aldrich Museum . A book signing and mushroom tasting will follow.
