What's Happening in Easton This Weekend

EASTON, Conn. – A quilt exhibit, an art reception, comedian Mario Cantone and the B-52s are some of the events happening in and around Easton this weekend.

Friday

11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: The quilt exhibit, "Fabrics and Fabrications," begins at the Southport Congregational Church. Quilts from around the country, new and old, will be on display. There also will be workshops for parents and kids alike that include quilts made from recycled objects. Tickets are available in advance and at the door. 8 p.m.: Get ready to laugh as comedian Mario Cantone takes the stage at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Cantone, who had a recurring role on HBO’s “Sex in the City,” is known for his impersonations and musical parodies. Tickets are $55 and $65.

Saturday

10 a.m.: Proving that you don’t have to wait for the Spring harvest to enjoy fresh vegetables, meats and dairy, the Weston’s Winter Farmers' Market at the Norfield Grange brings a wide variety of goods to Weston, all made by Connecticut farmers and artisans. This is an indoor farmers' market event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday.

12:30 p.m.: The Easton Public Library will have a special artist reception in honor of artist John Kochiss. His exhibit “Wooden Boats and Canvas Sails” is on display at the library.

Sunday

3-5 p.m.: Food writer Eugenia Bone will discuss her new book "Mycophilia: Revelations from the Weird World of Mushrooms" at The Aldrich Museum. A book signing and mushroom tasting will follow her discussion.

8 p.m.: Known for such hits as “Love Shack,” “Rock Lobster” and “Roam,” The B-52s will take the stage at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Tickets are $95 and $110. Call the box office at 203-438-5795.
