New Exhibit: Framing the Past, Present and Future: 5:30 p.m. The exhibit features more than 45 original works of paintings, drawings, illustrations, comics, etchings, photographs and sculptures on loan from regional museums, private collections, the Town of Westport, the Westport Schools Permanent Art Collection and the artists themselves.. Animal Feeding At Earthplace : 11:00 a.m. Join Earthplace staff in the Animal Hall and Connecticut Birds of Prey exhibit for scheduled feeding times. Free with the price of admission and free for members. Earthplace, 10 Woodside Lane.

Friday Night Dance Party: 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. Dance and practice your new skills in a friendly environment. $10 per person. Ballroom Elegance Dance Studio, 627 Post Road East.

A Family Event: Something to Crow About: 1:30 p.m. An opportunity for parents to do a hands-on activity with their children and learn about the straw figures farmers worldwide use to keep birds out of their fields. Parents can bring some favorite pieces of old clothing – hats, shirts, and slacks for a fall scarecrow-making party. $25 per family for members; $35 for non-members. River Walk with Earthplace: 1:00 p.m. Learn how aquatic insects help to determine water health on the banks of the Norwalk River. Free. Earthplace, The Nature Discovery Center, 10 Woodside Lane.

Bike4Bikes Fall Foliage Charity Bike Ride: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event benefits Northeast Community Cycles, a not-for-profit organization whose volunteers repair and refurbish donated bicycles for local charities to distribute—with brand new helmets—to their clients in need. $49.00 for adults, $35.00 children 18 & under. Westport Historical Society Presents A Tree Grows in Winslow: 2:00 p.m. A walk with professional arborist Ben Sykas will help to identify and care for the trees and learn the basics as the difference between compound and simple leaves and good versus bad pruning. Terrapin Dead Tribute Band: 9:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. A part of the summer concert series, the band offers a selection of Grateful Dead classics and some surprise goodies from other artists such as Bob Marley and the Rolling Stones followed by a fantastic LED lighting show. First Lego League Team Preparation : 10:00 a.m. FLL engages younger students ages 9 – 14 with real world engineering by challenging them to build LEGO-based robots to complete task. $500. Visit the website for more details.

Local Author Celebrates Debut Book Release With The Community: 4:00 p.m. Author Alena Dillon will launch her debut book “I Thought We Agreed To Pee In The Ocean”.
