“Harbor” at the Westport Country Playhouse: 8 p.m. See the world premiere comedy “Harbor,” a story about a dysfunctional but loving family. It was written by Tony Award-nominated writer Chad Beguelin and directed by Mark Lamos. The cast includes Tony Award nominee Bobby Steggert (Broadway’s “Ragtime”), Emmy Award nominee Paul Anthony Stewart (“Guiding Light”), Kate Nowlin and Alexis Molnar. Tickets are $25 to $65. Chef John Barricelli at Westport Library: 10 to 11 a.m. Author and chef John Barricelli, owner of the SoNo Baking Company & Café, will present his new cookbook “The Seasonal Baker: Easy Recipes from My Home Kitchen to Make Year-Round.” Barricelli, a third-generation baker, began his cooking career at the Culinary Institute of America. He has been in business as a restaurant owner for 20 years, worked at Martha Stewart’s magazines and hosted the PBS show "Everyday Baking." Free. Westport Public Library, McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

Westport Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s all about supporting the local economy at the Westport Farmers Market. You can find fresh produce, artisan meats and cheeses, freshly baked goods, organic foods, clothing and more. Free admission. Imperial Avenue parking lot.

Author Nichole Bernier at Westport Library: 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Former Westporter and 1985 Staples High School graduate Nichole Bernier will present her book “The Unfinished Work of Elizabeth D.” It explores the questions of death and the nature of friendship. Bernier writes for several magazines, including Self, Health, Men’s Journal and Boston Magazine. She is also a 14-year contributing editor with Condé Nast Traveler. Free. Friday, Sept. 7
Shorefest Lobster Dinner: 6 to 9 p.m. Enjoy live music and a seafood dinner featuring lobsters, a raw bar and more during the annual ShoreFest Lobster Dinner. Robin Batteau and David Buskin will be performing throughout the evening, and rescued raptors from Birds of Prey will mingle with the guests. Cost is $50 per adult and $8.50 for kids 12 and under.
