Breaking News: Black Ice Advisory Issued For Melting Snow Refreezing

Westport’s Fine Arts Festival Offers New Treats

WESTPORT, Conn. – It might be going into its 39th year, but the Westport Fine Arts Festival is anything but old. This year, festival-goers can expect several new additions, including the availability of beer and wine and longer festival hours.

The two-day event, which draws thousands of visitors to downtown Westport, will feature works by 140 exhibiting artists. Art lovers and enthusiasts can see and can buy original works, including drawings, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and watercolor. This year, several new art categories have been added, including glass, fiber, wood, jewelry, ceramics and digital art.

Visitors can also expect to be entertained. Live music and other performances are on tap both days under the entertainment tent. Some entertainment highlights include: a sneak peak at the Staples Players Summer Theatre production of “Willy Wonka,” the Westport Arts Center-sponsored “Art Cafe meets Jazz Jam: Downtown Mash-up” featuring Brian Torff and The Phantom Pluckers, a dance performance by Studio 44 Dance & Fitness, and musical performances by Mecca Bodega, PJ Pacifico, the Tropical Beat Steel Band and more.

Outside of the entertainment tent, festival-goers will also be amused by street performers, such as the Fine Arts Festival mime, and a living portrayal of “American Gothic.”

Just for kids, the Westport Arts Center will have an activity tent set up featuring arts and crafts, a balloon artist, face painting and more. And because no festival would be complete without it, there will be plenty of food and refreshments provided by area restaurants and vendors.

Presented by the Westport Downtown Merchants Association, the festival takes place along Parker-Harding Plaza and Gorham Island from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, visit the Westport Downtown Merchants Association website .
