The Westport Tree Board's Arbor Day celebration runs from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Westport Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave. First Selectman Jim Marpe will kick off the celebration with an Arbor Day Proclamation, followed by introductory remarks from Tree Warden Bruce Lindsay.
The Westport Tree Board will host a “drive-through” free giveaway of 100 kousa dogwood, 100 river birch and 100 douglas fir tree seedlings (with planting instructions) to school-age children and residents of Westport on a first-come, first-serve basis. The tree seedling giveaway comes from donations of Connecticut Light & Power in recognition of National Arbor Day.
“This is a great opportunity to teach our children the value of being good stewards of the environment and the beauty that such plantings bring to our everyday lives," said Lindsay.
