Westport Library Offering Two College-Prep Programs

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Library is offering two programs in October to help students prepare for the college application process.

Both are free and open to the public. 

The first one is on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Seminar Room. It's called "A Personal Review of Your College Essay." 

Bobbi Crocker from Crocker College Consulting will meet privately with high school seniors for 15-minute appointments to review their college essays. The program requires a $15 materials fee; register now. 

Crocker is an independent educational consultant specializing in the college admissions selection and application process. She a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association, conducts many college visits and has an in-depth knowledge of the college admissions process. 

A former admissions reader and member of the admissions committee for Wheaton College, she is an alumni interviewer for Bowdoin College and former chairperson for the Fairfield County Bowdoin Alumni Schools and Interviewing Committee. 

A second program is Saturday, Oct. 3, from noon to 4 p.m., in the McManus Room, and is a practice PSAT.

Students can get ready for the PSAT, offered officially on Oct. 14, with this free PSAT Practice Test administered by C2 Education. 

Register online; space is limited. Bring a calculator and a #2 pencil. Breaks will be provided, just as in the official test.
