Westport Invited To Community Conversation On Race At Library

WESTPORT, Conn. – In the second in a series of community conversations on race, TEAM Westport, the Westport Library and the Weston/Westport Interfaith Clergy are co-sponsoring “A Conversation About Black Life in Fairfield County” from 3-4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Westport Library’s McManus room.

The event is the follow-up to the conversation conducted by the group last spring about the anonymous distribution of “White Lives Matter” fliers to a number of Westport residences.

The conversation will take place with a presentation and question-and-answer session that will explore the national climate on race and the challenges faced by Fairfield County’s residents of color. The event will be headlined by scholar Susan Toliver, chair of the sociology department at Iona College in New Rochelle.

The conversation will be moderated by the Rev. Alison Patton of Saugatuck Congregational Church and feature a panel of residents.

The conversation series is one of an ongoing series of community events being brought to the public by TEAM Westport, which included the interfaith clergy vigil for Charleston at the Saugatuck Congregational Church and the screening of “The Good Lie” about the experience of Sudanese war orphans who emigrate to rebuild life in the United Staes.

The Westport Library is at 20 Jesup Road.
