Westport Family Gears Up For Annual Charity Event

WESTPORT, Conn. – Kids in Westport and Weston can design and create their own stuffed animals to help kids in need during the annual Stuffed With Love charity event on Nov. 23.

Created by the Wofsy family of Westport in 2007, Stuffed With Love provides kids of all ages a fun, hands-on way to give back. During the event, children stuff, dress, name and personalize stuffed animals. These animals are then given to children with cancer and rare blood diseases through the Westport nonprofit Al’s Angels.

More than 350 children and their families created more than 350 stuffed animals during last year’s event, Hallie Wofsy said. This year’s goal is to have 500 or more families participate.

“We have been so fortunate to have so many families interested in helping their children make a difference in the lives of others,” she wrote in a letter.

This year’s Stuffed With Love event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 23. In the past, it has been held at the Wofsy’s home. But this year, the event is moving to the Norfield Grange in Weston to accommodate more people, Wofsy said.

Families that can’t participate the day of the event but would like to help can donate a Stuffed With Love kit to a child in need, allowing him or her to make their own stuffed animal. Families can also purchase kits and make stuffed animals on their own time, in advance of the event.

To register for the event or for more information, contact Hallie Wofsy at 203-451-6295 or hallie@stuffedwithlove.net. More information is also available on the official Stuffed With Love website.
