Westport Event Honors Life of Martin Luther King

WESTPORT, Conn. – The Interfaith Council of Westport and Weston will celebrate the life of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and African-American history on Sunday, Jan. 15.

The event, which is co-produced by Weston Middle School teacher Peggy Jorgensen and her sister Kimberly Wilson, will include students and residents from Westport and Weston, representatives from the Interfaith Council membership, town clergy and other community members. Jorgensen will present “A Walk Through History” timeline of the civil rights movement.

Guests are encouraged to donate to the rebuilding of Westport’s Saugatuck Congregational Church or bring nonperishable food items for local food pantries.
