Weston Library to Show Plummer's 'Beginners'

WESTON, Conn. – In honor of the big Oscar win by resident Christopher Plummer, the Weston Public Library will hold a special screening of his film “Beginners” on March 9.

In the film, Plummer plays the role of Hal Fields, a man who comes out of the closet to his son after his wife dies. Starring in the Mike Mills film alongside the 82-year-old actor are Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent.

Plummer, a longtime Westonite, has won four awards for his performance as Fields, including a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, an Independent Spirit Award and, just this past Sunday, he became the oldest actor to win an Academy Award with his victory in the supporting actor category.

The film will begin at 7 p.m. at the library, 56 Norfield Road.
