WESTON, Conn. – Singer-songwriter Suzanne Sheridan will introduce the Weston Historical Society’s "Music at the Barn" outdoor concert series on Sunday from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
The Suzanne Sheridan Band will perform classic rock and roll, and songs by Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen. The band features Sheridan on vocals and guitar, Bob Cooper on keyboards, Joe Meo on sax and vocals and Jake Habegger on drums. The multi-talented Sheridan has traveled throughout the Northeast, Canada and Australia performing her tribute to the music of Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen.
“I want to share my love for Joni and Leonard and create new fans for their music and their poetry and lyrical wisdom,” said the Westport resident. “Their artistry gets under your skin and becomes a part of you – forever.”
With a background in music, her first jingle as a singer was “Join the Pepsi People” for Pepsi Cola Company, which won the coveted Clio Award. She also sang on many jingles for companies such as Hasbro Toys, Hardees and Texaco. In New York City, she played at Gerties Folk City, The Bitter End and Reno Sweeny’s. She has also written music for the PBS children’s educational program “The Electric Company.”
The summer program, launched in 2015, returns with an expanded series:
Suzanne Sheridan Band on Sunday; P.J. Pacifico on Sunday, June 12; and the Kenn Morr Band on Sunday, July 17.
All performances are from 5-7:30 p.m. at the historical society’s Coley Homestead, 104 Weston Road. No reservations are required. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, favorite food and beverage, and enjoy the entertainment. In the event of rain, the concert will be inside the barn.
