WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Country Playhouse honored 2015 Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara at its annual fundraiser on Sept. 21.
O'Hara, a Westport resident, received the 2015 Tony Award for her portrayal of Anna in "The King and I." She has also starred in the musical adaptation of "The Bridges of Madison County" as Francesca and as Mrs. Darling in NBC's live telecast of "Peter Pan."
O'Hara made her Metropolitan Opera debut in "The Merry Widow" opposite Renée Fleming and her Broadway debut in "Jekyll & Hyde."
A total of 575 people attended "Something Wonderful: A Gala Evening Celebrating Kelli O'Hara."
Special guest Matthew Morrison and featured artists Adam Guettel, Jose Llana, Jake Lucas, Greg Naughton, and James Naughton, with Michael Callahan, Richard Gatta, Adam Rogers, and Cody Williams, joined O'Hara onstage. Josh Rhoads directed the production, with musical direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell.
John Samuelson was also honored with the Playhouse Leadership Award at the gala. He has been a Playhouse trustee for the past decade.
Proceeds from the gala will benefit the Westport Country Playhouse, which is currently in its 85th season.
