WESTPORT, Conn. -- An award-winning journalist and violinist are coming to Westport to talk about their latest book, "Strings Attached."

Journalist Joanne Lipman and Chicago Symphony Orchestra violinist Melanie Kupchynsky are set to present a multimedia audiovisual presentation about the book "Strings Attached" at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Westport Public Library.

The book tells the story of what happened on Feb. 13, 2010, when 90 East Brunswick, N.J., musicians came together to celebrate public school music teacher Jerry "Mr. K" Kupchynsky.

"After only two hours of rehearsal, the musicians, ranging from those who hadn’t played in decades to professional performers, played one last concert for Mr. K," a press release said. "Mr. K managed to transform great personal hardship into a style of tough teaching that inspired generations of students to achieve outsized success. But what makes tough teachers so effective? And what is the story behind Mr. K that led him to become such an inspiring figure?"

Lipman and Melanie Kupchynsky will host the book talk and signing for "Strings Attached" at the Westport Public Library at 20 Jesup Road in Westport. The event is free and open to the public.
