Signed Salman Rushdie Books Featured In Westport Library's Holiday Sale

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Library will hold its annual Holiday Book and Gift Sale this weekend.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6. All proceeds from the sale directly benefit the library.

For sale are a large selection of gift quality books in many categories including: art, fiction, history, current events, gardening, crafts, cooking, and biography.

Also for sale are children’s books and holiday-themed materials, as well as DVDs and CDs in sealed original packaging.

Featured at the sale will be signed first-edition copies of acclaimed author Salman Rushdie's new New York Times best seller “Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights.”

Rushdie, who participated in the library’s Malloy Lecture in the Arts series in October, also signed some of his earlier books, including “Satanic Verses,” which will be available for purchase as well.

Another featured book in the sale is “An American Theatre: The Story of the Westport Country Playhouse,” with a special edition signed by Joanne Woodward, who wrote the foreword.

All library store items will be discounted 10 percent or more during the book sale

Gift wrapping is offered both days.

An “Upcycling Gift Wrapping” workshop is set for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5. It will offer tips on how to use household materials to make creative, inexpensive packages for the holidays.
