WESTPORT, Conn. -- Oncologist Dr. Vincent T. DeVita Jr. will discuss the war on cancer at Westport Library on Monday, Jan. 11.
Journalist, co-author and daughter Elizabeth DeVita Raeburn will interview him about their book, "The Death of Cancer: After Fifty Years on the Front Lines of Medicine, a Pioneering Oncologist Reveals Why the War on Cancer Is Winnable -- and How We Can Get There."
DeVita is a professor of medicine and epidemiology and public health at Yale School of Medicine. He was formerly the director of the National Cancer Institute, where he developed a cure for Hodgkin's lymphoma using combination chemotherapy.
In addition to co-authoring "The Death of Cancer," Raeburn also wrote "The Empty Room: Surviving the Loss of a Brother or Sister at Any Age."
Books will be available for purchase and signing.
