Laurie Davis has got an answer for you.

Davis, also known as “The Glitter Fairy,” will be leading “Glitter 101,” an adult ornament-making workshop that will provide instruction on how to make an ornament while focusing on the history of glitter, according to the Norwalk Historical Society.

Hosted by the Historical Society, the event is to begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Mill Hill Historic Park, 2 East Wall Street, Norwalk. Entrance to the workshop costs $35 and includes all materials. Registration and pre-payment is required by Dec. 2 and can be completed here.

During the two-hour workshop, Davis will discuss the history of glitter, where it comes from and how it’s used, according to the Historical Society, which said The Glitter Fairy will then instruct the group on how create her signature glitter pear ornament complete with leaf, bow and hammered brass hook.

Davis also is expected to provide instructions for creating a holiday gift tag and for displaying the ornament in a gift box, according to the Historical Society. Each student will leave with a handcrafted glitter pear ornament suitable for any Christmas tree.

Davis is a former art teacher and graphic director who earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Syracuse University. She’s made several television appearances, including on programs like “The Martha Stewart Show,” “The Katie Brown Workshop,” and “Pet Talk.” She’s run her own seasonal decorations business for the past 17 years, according to the Historical Society.

To purchase Davis’ work, visit her shop on Etsy. Her “lovely glittery globe” ornaments can also be purchased in the Norwalk Historical Society’s Museum Gift Shop.

In the event of inclement weather, an event makeup date has been scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 13. For more information, visit the Norwalk Historical Society online, email info@norwalkhistoricalsociety.org or call 203-846-0525.
