WESTPORT, Conn. -- Experienced knitter Andrea Dener will conduct a series of workshops on basic knitting at noon every other week beginning Sept. 11 at the Westport Library.
The program is free and open to the public. The series is for both beginners and those whose skills need refreshing.
Dener, a Craft Yarn Council certified instructor, will review the basics of knitting — how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off. The first session will focus on making a scarf. Participants, who are welcome to bring projects they are working on, should come with size-eight knitting needles, a nine or 10 inch length skein of a light color “worsted weight” yarn; look for the number 4 on the label.
Starter kits will be available for sale at the program at a cost of $15. Workshops will be in the library’s Seminar Room on Sept. 11, and in the Great Hall on Sept. 25, Oct. 9, 23 and Nov. 6.
