WESTPORT, Conn. — You can help support needy families throughout Fairfield County while enjoying the sights, sounds and flavors of India during the Near and Far Aid Spring Gala at Mitchells of Westport.

The annual gala raises funds for Near and Far Aid, an all-volunteer organization that provides funds for projects that address the causes and effects of poverty in Fairfield County. Since 2000, the organization has donated more than $12 million to about 100 agencies each year, according to a statement from the nonprofit.

For this year’s Bollywood theme, Mitchells will be transformed into a Taj Mahal-like venue. Gourmet Indian cuisine, wine and spirits will be served.

The event also includes a live runway fashion show and an auction. Some items up for bid will include a five-night trip to India, VIP access to the U.S. Grand Prix and a trip to the women’s finals at Wimbledon. A separate wine auction will feature a variety of rare vintage selections.

The hosts of this year’s event will be Fox Business Network’s Liz Claman, TV personality Dave Price and "Dancing With the Stars" champion Tony Dovolani.

The gala will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. March 1. An after-party featuring food, live music and dancing will follow from 10 p.m. to midnight.

Gala and after-party tickets can be purchased on the Near and Far website.
