Joining Ferguson for his campaign announcement will be state Rep. Jan Giegler (R-138), who is not running for re-election for the seat. The 138th District includes parts of Danbury, New Fairfield and Ridgefield.

Ferguson, a Republican, received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Connecticut State University and said he understands the need for a stronger higher education system based on empowering both students and faculty.

For the past two years, Ferguson has been a member of the Danbury Board of Education, where he has fought for a more accountable system in which students and their futures come first. He works at Danbury Hospital and is an adjunct professor this semester at Naugatuck Valley Community College. He said his unique background will serve him well if elected to the General Assembly.

“For the past 13 years the people of the 138th District have been represented by State Rep. Jan Giegler and I thank her for her remarkable service to our state,” said Ferguson. "I have seen Jan’s commitment firsthand and she has helped instill in me the qualities for being an effective public servant.

"Like Rep. Giegler, I believe we must chart a new course for our state and we cannot continue to go down the path of higher taxes, more debt and irresponsible spending."

Ferguson said he is excited to launch his campaign, and to have the chance to start spreading his message for a better Connecticut to the people of the 138th District.

The launch event will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Maron Hotel is located at 42 Lake Ave. Ext. in Danbury.
