WESTPORT, Conn. -- Patricia Russo, executive director of the Women’s Campaign School at Yale University, will be the guest speaker at the Y's Women meeting Monday at Temple Israel in Westport.
The meeting will begin at 10:45 a.m. with coffee and conversation, followed by the program at 11:30 a.m.
The Women's Campaign School is a non-partisan, issue-neutral political campaign training program for women interested in seeking for public office, as well as for women interested in campaign management. Based at Yale Law School, it is a leading program attracting women from the United States and internationally.
Russo is the founder of the Connecticut Women’s Agenda, a statewide advocacy coalition comprised of women leaders. She is a co-founder of the Women's Business Development Council of Connecticut, which assists women entrepreneurs, and also is a co-founder of the Connecticut NARAL Foundation, which educates and protects women's reproductive rights.
Formerly, Russo served 23 years as a member of Connecticut's Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, including eight years as chairwoman. She is now Commissioner Emerita on behalf of the agency and is a member of its Fourth Congressional District Advisory Council.
She has received numerous awards and citations for her leadership in the area of women's rights. She has been named "Woman of the Year" by the Connecticut Chapters of the American Association of University Women and of Business and Professional Women.
Russo also was the recipient of the prestigious Hannah G. Solomon Award, given by the National Council of Jewish Women.
