Get ‘Lost In The Flood’ For Charity In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport resident Frank Bergonzi and his Bruce Springsteen tribute band Lost In The Flood will rock Bobby Q’s in Westport on Saturday to benefit the Westport Firefighters Benevolent Fund.

The 8th annual benefit performance is set for 8:30 p.m. at the rooftop garden of Bobby Q’s, 42 Main St. The band will play two sets of greatest hits by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.

Bergonzi said a highlight of the concert will be a performance by 11-year-old Ethan Charles, the adopted son of Dennis Charles, the band’s bassist. Ethan, whose birth father was killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, will play drums during a performance of “The Rising.”

“He’s never met his birth father,” said Bergonzi. “To me, that’s the reason to go. And it’s the reason we do this.”

Concert-goers can also look for a special alcoholic drink called “Springsteaz,” Bergonzi said. Event sponsor Steaz, an organic brand of iced teas founded by Westport resident Steve Kessler, will provide the teas, which will be mixed with rum or vodka.

There’s a $10 cover charge for the event. The money will be donated to the Westport Firefighters Benevolent Fund. Proceeds from the sale of Springsteaz will also be donated.

Fire Chief Andrew Kingsbury said the firefighters benevolent fund helps support the Connecticut Burns Foundation , which runs a burns camp for children.

“The response to this gig is always phenomenal,” said Bergonzi. “We look forward to this performance the most.”
