“I really believe this event is needed more than ever,” said Akinloye, a Trumbull resident. "Women are ready to experience something more fulfilling. At this expo and conference we want to pour love into women’s lives, give birth to the gifts God has planted in each of us, and reclaim our divine beauty.”

This women empowerment extravaganza features a special celebration for the mothers and daughters who completed ETBINC’s 6-week personal development program. The event will also include a line-up of national and international guest speakers, including Oxygen TV's Kimberly Jones Pothier, life coach, mentor and author of the best-selling book: “Beautifully Broken."

She is joined by a panel of speakers and participants including Melinda Johnson, TV host of "Change Talk Wednesday"; June Archer, motivational teacher, author and entrepreneur; Jeneen Terrana, songwriter artist; The CT Dancing Diamonds; Justin Haynes, international fashion designer; and Lorraine Chapman, CEO of Cuts Unlimited Beauty. Ophelia J. Harper, recording artist and Stellar Award winner featured on Deitrick Haddon’s “Change is Gonna Come,” is the event’s featured vocalist.

The expo will also showcase vendors, a fashion show and a beauty bar. A portion of all proceeds go to support the mission of ETBINC, a non-profit organization devoted to helping serve the community’s disadvantaged women and girls.

Outreach and serving community has been ETB’s mission ever since, with the organization providing beauty and health services, job training and education at women’s’ shelters and ongoing events throughout the state.

In 2012, Akinloye was awarded the 49th Sojouner Truth Community Service Award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Greater Bridgeport Chapter. In 2015 she gave a well-received TEDx talk in North Carolina with the aim of spreading her message of empowerment and hope.

“Our mission has always been to help women and families in need with our gift of beauty and love,” she said.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The church is at 3685 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield.
