WESTPORT, Conn. – You can enjoy a lobster dinner on the beach at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport while helping to support programs at the Sherwood Island Nature Center during the annual Shorefest fundraiser Sept. 7.
Organized by the Friends of Sherwood Island, this year’s Shorefest features a raw bar, catered dinner, a performance by Buskin & Batteau and a silent auction.
Dinner, to be catered by Captain John, will include a choice of lobster, rib-eye steak, chicken and sausage. All dinners come with corn, salad and beverages. Kids will have a choice of hot dogs or hamburgers with corn, salad and dessert.
Proceeds will support the Sherwood Island Summer Internship Program, which trains high school students from across Fairfield County to be nature guides and environmentalists. These interns introduce the nature center’s visitors to aquaculture and wildlife. Money raised will also go toward making the center more sustainable with the installation of solar panels.
The cost of the dinner is $50 for adults and $8.50 for children 12 and under. Guests must RSVP with payment by Sept. 4. For more information, contact Tina Green at firstname.lastname@example.org or 203-247-2660.
