"We've been pretty inundated with calls and inquiries about people who are afraid of different things. We have four people who are very close friends of ARC's who have been detained," said the Rev. Phyllis J. "P.J." Leopold, Executive Director of the Board at the Association of Religious Communities, which is organizing the rally.

The rally is a chance for neighbors to build and reinforce positive bridges, the ARC website says.

"We also have concerns from immigrants, both longtime and new, so with all of this fear we are trying to come together and remind one another that there is still good in the world and some of that is right here in our own backyard," Leopold told Daily Voice.

Muslim, Latino, and Hispanic adults, a high school teen, and state Rep. David Arconti will be speakers at the rally outside the church, with a community fair to follow inside.

The rally will be held at 2 p.m. at the church, which is located at 71 West St., Danbury.

Faith communities and justice groups that want to display materials inside on their programs may reserve a table by calling the Rev. Stephen Tickner at 917-628-5131.
