On Saturday, June 6, pediatric patient Ruby Toomey-Wilson of Norwalk will share her story of pain and triumph as she navigated the disease at the age of 4. Her father, David Toomey-WIson, of Bloomberg Polar Lake, has teamed with other professionals in Westport and Fairfield to secure corporate support to supplement the money raised by more than 500 local residents in attendance. Local dance troops, gymnastics teams and music schools will provide entertainment, in addition to a live band.

On Sunday, May 17, more than 1,000 walkers – many of whom are school-aged students – will raise more than $200,000 toward CCFA’s mission to find cures. Moving testimonials from established lawyer Andrew Gelfand, originally of Scarsdale, and 18-year-old Joey Procino, of White Plains, will set the tone for a fun, supportive party. Music, bouncy castles, face painting and more will add to the fun.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are isolating, chronic diseases that leave patients scared and embarrassed. The mission at Take Steps is to eliminate the stigma and allow patients to own their experience proudly.
