The fire took place in Roosevelt around 3:35 p.m., Sunday, April 17, said the Nassau County Police.

When officers responded to the call after receiving a 911 call they found that four residents had made it safely outside the burning home, but one man was trapped inside, police said.

Three Nassau County officers ran into the home and performed a search for the trapped victim. The officers navigated heavy smoke and were able to locate the man and remove him to safety, police added.

The rescued man, age 29, two additional residents, and the police officers were transported to an area hospital for smoke inhalation and evaluation.

The Roosevelt Fire and Uniondale Fire departments extinguish the fire.

The Nassau County Fire Marshall and Arson/Bomb Squad detectives were on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
