The Bridgeport-based band, which recently released its newest album "The Funhouse," will take the Levitt Pavilion stage on Jesup Green at 8 p.m.

“This idea of bringing the street performance to the stage led us to gypsy music and the 1930's swing era as these are free feeling, charismatic performances by real entertainers,” the band says on its website.

“With this as the musical backdrop, combined with our fascination with macabre images and sharp-witted sarcasm, we began writing happy sounding pop songs with pretty harmonies, dark thoughts and creepy characters. This all seemed to be a suitable combination. And banging on buckets, frying pans and hubcaps were just crazy and human enough to fit too.”

Caravan of Thieves started out with husband and wife Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni writing and performing as a duo. By spring of 2008, though, Fuzz and Carrie extended their family to include violinist Ben Dean and double bassist Brian Anderson.

Within their first year, Caravan of Thieves won praise for its unique blend of gypsy swing and popular music. The band soon took their show on the road and has, in the process, shared stages with world renowned artists such as Emmylou Harris, Dan Hicks, Nanci Griffith, The Decemberists, Tom Tom Club, Iron and Wine, and others.

Their live shows also caught the attention of festival promoters across the country and the band has performed at Summer Camp, Mountain Jam, Herndon Festival, Musikfest, Four Corners Folk Fest and Catskill Chill, to name a few.

The Westport concert is free and appropriate for audiences of all ages.
