Business Programs Offer Up Tips At Westport Library

WESPORT, Conn. – Several speakers will be presenting free business programs at the Westport Public Library in November. All of the events are on Tuesdays, and all are at the library, on 20 Jessup Road.

  • Nov. 3: 6-8 p.m. Seminar Room: Starting A Business—Financial Reporting and Planning. Dick Kelsey and Mike Klehm will review key financial statements and discuss how to develop a comprehensive financial plan, which is critical for a successful start-up business. Interested people should register in advance with SCORE at scorenorwalk.org.
  • Nov. 10: 10: a.m. McManus Room: Women Entrepreneurs Group—Communication Differences Between Genders. Learn tools to improve communication with speech pathologist Peggy Bud, who will speak about differences in the way women and men communicate.
  • Nov. 10: 6-8 p.m. McManus Room: Simple Steps to Starting a Business: Funding Sources and Conversations with Entrepreneurs. This final session of a five-part series led by Aya Beckles Swanson and Dick Kelsey focuses on funding structures required for start-up businesses, and will include a presentation from lending sources specializing in start-up and small businesses.
  • Nov. 17: 7:30 p.m. McManus Room: Should You Consider Business Ownership? Do you dream of owning your own business? Have you recently been downsized? Are you fed up with the corporate world? Join advisor Bill Brimmer for an informational session on franchising. His topics will include the advantages of business ownership, risks and rewards and buying an existing business.
