WESTPORT, Conn. — Award-winning journalist Claudia Kalb, who wrote the 2016 bestseller, "Andy Warhol was a Hoarder: Inside the Minds of History’s Great Personalities," will speak to the Y's Women group Monday, March 27, at Temple Israel in Westport.
A former senior writer for Newsweek, Kalb wrote features and cover stories for the magazine for 17 years. Her topics ranged from stem cells and genetic testing to the origins of autism and the biological underpinnings of emotional memory.
She is known for combining in-depth and serious reporting with engaging and accessible writing.
Kalb's awards include Front Page Award from the Newswomen’s Club of New York for her cover story, “Girl or Boy? The New Science of Sex Selection.” Her story, “Battling a Black Epidemic,” was featured in Newsweek’s cover package, “AIDS at 25,” which was selected as a National Magazine Award finalist.
Kalb's book explores what drives creativity innovation and genius and what lies beneath.
It takes readers on a fascinating journey into the lives and minds of 12 famous figures, from Charles Darwin, Howard Hughes and Albert Einstein to Marilyn Monroe, Frank Lloyd Wright and Princess Diana.
Monday's event begins at 10:45 a.m. with coffee and conversation, followed by the program at 11:30 a.m. at the temple on Coleytown Road.
Founded in 1992, the Y's Women serves active and involved working and retired women in Fairfield County, and has a membership of more than 400 members.
