WESTPORT, Conn. — A New York Times bestselling author is coming to Westport to offer insights on her latest historical fiction book.
On Thursday, May 12, author Lauren Belfer will share perspective about her new historical fiction book "And After the Fire" at 7 p.m. in the Westport Library’s McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road, Westport.
She will be introduced by Sybil Steinberg, a Publisher’s Weekly contributing editor.
Books will be available for purchase at the program, which is free and open to the public.
The novel begins with an American soldier in Germany at the end of World War II discovering an old music manuscript from a seemingly deserted mansion, then mistakenly killing the girl who tries to stop him.
“An intellectual thriller and a beautiful love story," said New York Times best selling author Sara Gruen about the novel.
"What if you came into possession of an historical artifact with the power to alter history and change the world? (This book is) sure to establish Belfer as a fearless, provocative writer."
Belfer’s previous novel, "A Fierce Radiance," was named a Washington Post Best Novel, an NPR Best Mystery and a New York Times Editors’ Choice.
Her debut novel, "City of Light," was a New York Times bestseller, as well as a number one Book Sense pick, a Barnes & Noble Discover Award nominee, a New York Times Notable Book, a Library Journal Best Book and a Main Selection of the Book-of-the-Month Club. It has been translated into six languages.
