The evening kicks off with a silent auction, followed by classical music and a live auction. The celebration’s cause is twofold: to provide local artists with the opportunity to share and sell their work and to support nearby nonprofits with a portion of the night’s proceeds.

Notable features this year include a 30-minute performance by Deborah Wong, international violinist and concertmaster of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. Wong, who led the symphony last season with a Mozart concert, has recorded for Deutsche Gramophone and other labels and is a dedicated violin instructor. Her program at The Arts Bloom will include Bach Partita No. 3 in E Major, and Ysaye Sonata No. 4 in E Minor.

Additionally, art-related door prizes, such as a mini original oil painting, a set of postcards of original works, as well as a four-pack of tickets to an upcoming Greater Bridgeport Symphony performance will be awarded. The Arts Bloom in Weston will highlight works of professional and amateur artists hailing from Southern Connecticut. Categories include paintings, ceramics, mixed media, textiles, collages, sculpture, glass, drawings, printmaking and photography. Student work is also welcome.

Entry fees are $25 for the first piece and $15 for subsequent work (includes admission to the event). Art should be dropped off at Emmanuel’s Parish Hall now through Thursday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Click here for details and applications.

Participants will receive a minimum price requested for works sold and additional funds raised will benefit Weston’s Friends of Lachat, WestonArts and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony.

“We’re thrilled to showcase and share the talent of Fairfield County’s artistic community in a way that benefits local charities as well as the artists. All are invited to join us for this celebration of creativity,” said co-chair Christine Juneau.

Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased via Eventbrite or at the door.
