3D Software Workshops For Teens At Westport Library

WESTPORT Conn. -- The Westport Library is offering a three-part workshop for teens in grades 6-12 on the 3D modeling software SketchUp beginning Monday.

The program, taught by builder Joseph Schott, is free but online registration is required. Please bring a laptop with SketchUp installed. 

The sessions are as follows: 

  • Level 1, Monday, Oct. 12, 4-5:30 p.m – Learn beginner SketchUp skills, such as navigating the toolbar and how to draw basic shapes. Use your skills to design your own unique medallion that you can 3D print on a later date.
  • Level 2, Monday, Oct. 19, 4-5:30 p.m. – Take your SketchUp skills to the next level by learning how to scale objects, make spheres and how to download and modify existing projects on the web. Use these skills to begin work on your own unique project. Students are required to have taken the Level 1 class or have previous SketchUp experience. 
  • Level 3, Monday, Oct. 26, 4-5:30 p.m. – Use the skills you learned in the Level 1 & 2 classes to add textures and components to your project. Learn how to use SketchUp for industrial design, jewelry design, architecture and more. Students are required to have taken the Level 1 and 2 classes or have extensive SketchUp experience.
