Harding, who grew in Westport, turns 38 on Saturday. The traveler, video game designer, and Internet celebrity was born Sept. 27, 1976, in Norwalk.
He began his career in the gaming industry while working for a video game specialty store, Cutting Edge Entertainment. He later worked as an editor for Game Week Magazine in Wilton.
He also worked for Activision in Santa Monica, Calif., and Brisbane, Australia, as a software developer. He then quit his job and began traveling, leading to the production of his famous video.
"Where the Hell is Matt?" is an Internet phenomenon that features a video of Dancing Matt doing a jig in many different places around the world in 2005.
Jawed Karim, one of the founders of YouTube, stated that Harding's video was his favorite on YouTube.
Harding has since received widespread coverage of his travel exploits in major print and broadcast media outlets and was hired by Visa to star in its Travel Happy campaign.
