WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport’s Gault Energy & Stone has served Fairfield County residents for the past 150 years. On Wednesday, the company was honored by state officials for its long-standing tradition of leadership and service.

Gault, the oldest family owned and operated energy company in Fairfield County, was presented with a citation in a ceremony held at the Westport Historical Society, where " Five Generations of Yankee Ingenuity: The Gault Family " exhibit is on display.

The citation recognizes the many community contributions the company has made over the years.

Three generations of the Gault family attended the ceremony, including Gault Chairman Bill Gault, President Sam Gault and Vice President Jim Donaher. Presenting the citation were state Rep. Gail Lavielle (R-143), state Rep. Jonathan Steinberg (D-136) and state Sen. John McKinney (R-28).

The Gault exhibit at the historical society will be on display through Sept. 2.
