In addition to on-site parking, Faces Beautiful customers have access to a wider range of services. The shop has teamed with its two neighbors, Salon De Matteo, a full-service hair salon, and Dr. Joseph O’Connell, a board-certified plastic surgeon who runs Plastic Surgery of Southern Connecticut.
“We’re now in a position to offer our clients the total beauty package,” said Sagel. “By sharing this building with Salon De Matteo and Dr. O’Connell, our clients can satisfy all their beauty needs under one roof—from makeup, skin and hair care to Botox treatments.”
Instead of competing, all three businesses work together and share clients, Sagel said.
“We’ve created a fantastic synergy,” she said.
Sagel, a Wall Street trader turned trained makeup artist, opened Faces Beautiful in 1999. The shop offers a variety of makeup and skin care services, including eyebrow design, eye lash services, makeup application, facials, anti-aging treatments and hair removal.
In addition to the store, Sagel created the Faces Beautiful line, which consists of mineral-based makeup and skin-care products. In about eight weeks, Sagel is releasing a beauty book called "Making Faces Beautiful."
The shop’s most popular service, Sagel said, is eyebrow shaping. Many businesses that offer eyebrow services use wax, she said. At Faces Beautiful, Sagel uses tweezers for custom precision.
“I carefully examine each client’s face and figure out the best shape for their brows,” Sagel said. “We don’t take the lawn mower approach here like other businesses do.”
Although similar businesses are nearby, Sagel said Faces Beautiful is the choice for people who want to be confident in the treatment they're receiving and the people they are receiving it from.
“We’re not a department store,” she said. “Everyone in here is either a trained makeup artist or esthetician, so the level of expertise is pretty high. This is our passion, and our goal is to put a smile on every client’s face.”
