Green & Tonic's newest location is offering a weekly wellness lecture series that will discuss such topics as depression and food allergies.

It made good business sense to have the lecture series in Westport, said Kristina Hess, head of Green & Tonic's education and nutrition.

The Westport location has a larger footprint of 1,400 square feet and more seating than the company's other locations in Cos Cob, Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan

" ... customers can learn about different ways to stay healthy, and (we can) provide a venue for everyone to interact," Hess said.

After the one-hour talks, participants will be able to ask questions and interact one-on-one with the speakers.

Recent topics were acupressure and the body’s core, she noted.

Green & tonic was founded in 2011 by Jeffrey and Cai Pandolfino.

"We were founded with the philosophy that the business, wellness and sharing with the community go together."

The cafe sells plant-based foods that can be eaten in or taken out and delivered via the Uber Restaurant app.

"We offer everything from healthy coaching, meal plans, cleanses and cold-pressed juices."

The following free Thursday wellness events are scheduled from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.:

  • March 30: Vibrant, Energized & Happy: Natural Approaches to Anxiety and Depression with Joy Herbst, LNP and nutritionist.
  • April 6: From Pain to Power: Early Injury Assessment, Treatment and Prevention with Dr. EJ Zebro, sports medicine doctor and founder of Train Away Pain in Westport.
  • April 20: Food Allergies & Sensitivities: 10 Things You Must Know to Feel Better with Jason Barker, N.D.
