WESTPORT, Conn. -- First Selectman Jim Marpe said the Board of Selectmen recently voted unanimously to consent to the sublease for a restaurant at the Inn at Longshore.
In accordance with a provision of the lease between the Town of Westport and Longshore Associates of Westport, the sublease between Longshore Associates and BNG Partners, LLC, d/b/a Pearl at Longshore, requires consent from the town.
As an introduction to the restaurant’s concept and vision, artist renderings of the proposed renovated space, as well as sample menus were provided to the board by BNG Partners, managing member and Westport resident Marc Backon and managing member and general manager Antonio Ninivaggi.
“Pearl will bring back a waterfront restaurant experience to Westport all year around. The Mediterranean-style menu will be responsive to the food and atmosphere desires of today’s diners, including a specific golfers’ menu during the season,” Backon said.
Due to substantial renovations necessary to update the current space, it is anticipated the restaurant will open later this year.
“I am pleased that the space will be occupied by a first class restaurant run by experienced and dedicated operating managers and local investors. While the restaurant will not be in operation this summer, I firmly believe that the wait necessary for the proposed renovations will be well worth it. I am confident that the dining experiences at Pearl will be enjoyed and remembered for years to come,” Marpe said.
“The consent of this sublease is another step in our continuing efforts to improve and enhance one of our town’s jewels. We remain deeply committed to providing an enjoyable, family-friendly Longshore Club Park experience for all Westporters.”
