A message regarding the restaurant’s departure was posted on the Blu Parrot Facebook page.
“To all of our friends, customers and those in the music community that have supported the Blu Parrot, we are shutting down operations while we wait for the sale of the business to be completed,” the message said. “We have had the honor and pleasure of meeting so many great people while [we were] here, which made a big difference to us and exemplified the need for a live music venue in this area.”
Restaurant co-owner and Westport native Adam Lubarsky could not be reached for comment, but a restaurant representative who answered the phone Wednesday confirmed the business was being sold. No other details were available.
Skip Lane, director of the commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, which brokered the Blu Parrot's lease, also did not have any information about the sale.
Lubarsky, along with partners Stephen Alward and Perry Cantor, opened the Blu Parrot in October. Lubarsky and Alward were the original owners of the now-closed Georgetown Saloon in Redding, which they ran from 1978 to 2004. The saloon closed early last year under different ownership.
Before becoming the Blu Parrot, the space was formerly Jasmine Restaurant, an Asian restaurant that closed in 2010 after 14 years in business. Prior to Jasmine opening in 1996, the space was the longtime home of the Arrow restaurant.
