WESTPORT, Conn. – Westport resident Corri Neckritz is not sure how much her new children’s clothing boutique, Groove, will benefit from Black Friday, one of the busiest holiday shopping days in the country.

Groove, which opened in October at 420 Post Road W., sells clothing, accessories and gift items for babies, kids, tweens and teens. This will be its first Black Friday.

“I don’t know how many people do Black Friday shopping in Westport,” said Neckritz, who co-owns Groove with friend Erin Berk, also of Westport. “We’ve been generally busy, but I have no idea what business will be like Friday.”

Based on the business the store has seen so far, Neckritz said she is expecting — and hoping — to be busy Friday. The store will offer a 20 percent discount on jackets and jeans, and a 10 percent discount on all other items, Neckritz said. These discounts may also be applied Saturday for Small Business Saturday , a national initiative meant to promote independent stores, Neckritz added.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Over at the Age of Reason, a children’s toy store at 19 Post Road W., owner Dina Berger is not expecting lines out the door on Black Friday.

“I’ve found that Black Friday is mostly mall oriented,” Berger said. “Generally, we have a very good day, but it’s not the biggest day of the year for us.”

During Hurricane Sandy, Berger said she lost $40,000 worth of merchandise when the Saugatuck River flooded the store and is not planning any Black Friday sales. However, Berger said shoppers will find her prices are fair and reasonable.

For Small Business Saturday, Berger said every shopper will receive a free gift.

Age of Reason will have extended hours for Black Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Like Berger, Victoria Schallert and Mariana Reinhardt, co-owners of the Brownstone on Main Street, are not expecting to see a boom on Black Friday. Nevertheless, the store, at 36 Main St., will be offering 20 percent off select handbags and 20 percent off homeware and gift items, Schallert said. These sales will continue Saturday and Sunday, Schallert said.

On Saturday, shoppers at the Brownstone who use a registered American Express card will receive an extra bonus, Schallert added. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
