In August, the Volvo of Westport team also participated in the “Ice Bucket Challenge” and donated a 2014 Volvo S80 five-year lease to the ALS Connecticut Chapter.

“This cause hits close to home as Charlie Santangelo, ‘Uncle Charlie’, a family member of ours has been diagnosed with this disease. The car donation was a way for us to help ALS expand its outreach and fight this disease for Uncle Charlie and others afflicted,” said George Santangelo, marketing director at Callari Auto Group.

“Callari Auto Group’s Volvo of Westport team was instrumental in the success of the walk by helping out with our setup on site, as well as the generous donation of the Volvo to continue our mission in CT. The ice bucket challenges this summer really moved the needle on awareness of ALS, but the real help for ALS comes from donations and the good group of folks at Callari Auto Group.” said Mike Burke, executive director of The ALS Association Connecticut Chapter.

Donations are always accepted by visiting the ALS homepage.

The Connecticut Chapter was founded in 1988 by a group of volunteers to serve the needs of those living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and their caregivers.
