The family-owned store is running a going-out-of-business sale at its location, and the owners invite all its former employees and customers to drop by and say good-bye.

The Silver Co. emerged in 1904 as a family business when his grandfather began selling canes and umbrellas in Bridgeport. The business eventually expanded and moved to Westport, where it has sold luggage and gifts since 1951.

Silver of Westport is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It is located in the Compo Acres Shopping Center on Post Road East.
