The chamber will feature members’ special “Hot Deal” offers on its website through Dec. 1 in honor of Small Business Saturday. American Express and The National Federation of Independent Businesses are backing the shop-local event.
“Small Business Saturday is a day to support the businesses that invigorate our local economy and keep Westport’s community thriving,” said Lisa Parrelli Gray, executive director of the chamber. “Small businesses are the backbone of Westport’s economy, and a big part of our community’s charm.”
The day is part of an effort to help consumers understand the positive effect local spending can have on communities such as Westport.
"Small businesses are major employers, they contribute revenue that helps keep local property taxes lower, and they add local character and diversity to town centers," the chamber said in a press release.
