NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Rumors of its possible demise have been greatly exaggerated. Thanks to celebrated Chef Francois Kwaku-Dongo, the Roger Sherman Inn, which earlier this year had been in fear of closing, is alive and kicking and ready for its close-up.

Mentored by the legendary Wolfgang Puck himself, Kwaku-Dongo has worked in some of the most demanding kitchens in the country – including the “battle kitchens” of Iron Chef America on the Food Network – and now brings his experience and vision to New Canaan.

Originally from the Ivory Coast, Kwaku-Dongo came to New York City with the dream of working as a translator at the United Nations. Food got in the way. Eventually he ended up in California, where Puck handpicked him to cook in his highly acclaimed California restaurants, including the iconic Spago in West Hollywood, where Kwaku-Dongo was elevated to executive chef.

Now at the Roger Sherman Inn, Kwaku-Dongo has introduced a seasonally inspired menu – from comforting tavern fare to more refined dishes – showcasing fresh, locally procured ingredients.

The menu is a culinary tour of New England, its coastal seafood, local family farms, and talented artisans. Also on the menu: chocolate masterpieces using Omanhene chocolate. Kwaku-Dongo serves as the Culinary Director for the Omanehene Cocoa Bean Company, the first company to sustain exports of bean-to-bar single-origin chocolate produced exclusively in Africa. And craft cocktails and local brews as well as a global wine list round out the fare.

The Roger Sherman Inn with its restaurant and 17-room inn, is a historic landmark located at 195 Oenoke Ridge. Call (203) 966-4541 for more information.
